What is a Medicare Advantage Plan?

Medicare Advantage Plans also known as Part C. This is one of the ways to receive your Medicare Benefits. These plans are offered through private insurance companies such as Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Wellcare, United Health Care, etc. All Medicare Advantage Plans have contracts with The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Each plan must cover at least as much as Original Medicare and be as good or even better. Medicare Advantage Plans work like the commercial insurance you have had for most of your life. These plans will usually come with a PPO or HMO type of provider network. Most Medicare Advantage Plans will also include your Part D prescription drug coverage. Besides that, many plans offer additional benefits such as Vision, Hearing, Dental and Gym Membership. Medicare Advantage Plans may be difficult to compare, it may look good on paper, but they may lack a good provider network or even have poor customer service.
